'all she wants grows blue' was released on the English record label Swim~ run by Wire guitarist and singer Colin Newman and Minimal Compact bass player and singer Malka Spigel.
The CD was the first collaboration of Pablo's Eye with the English writer Richard Skinner who was to become a longstanding collaborator of Pablo's Eye. Richard was invited to write the texts for the ‘voice’ of Pablo’s Eye Marie Mandi, to speak on the record. The album was conceived as the 'invisible soundtrack' to an imagined film.
This album reads like a book, sounds like a movie, and feels like a dream. Like any of these, the sensation is temporary, but the urge to repeat the experience is strong. This CD is a full novel, a musical movie of substance and atmosphere. The links with the big screen are obvious, but this is more an exploration of fragmented memories and stories. The narrative moves seamlessly from third to first person, and the sounds and music shift so easily between styles.

'Under/behind the late-night tales of travel, time and lost connections, Axel used the mixing desk to build his languid, libidinous Dub rhythms, allowing them to pulse in and around the stories. The energy of Dub was channelled and funnelled into dark hollow grooves, creating a gloomy landscape lit only by the flickering glow of cinema screens.' Extract from 'Vade Mecum Essays, Reviews & Interviews', Richard Skinner (Zer0 Books, 2015).
Reviews of the album described the music as 'an extended narrative soundscape', 'a waking dream' music that 'drifts in and out of consciousness'. You can read some reviews of the album here.
